Donations may be made to the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team at Blanco River Regional Recovery Team, clicking "Donate," and entering the word "Iconic" in the comments. The City is not accepting material donations, such as clothes and home goods.

Resources for Texas State University Students

Texas State University has announced several programs and funds available to students who have been affected by the fire. Information has been emailed to all students, faculty and staff and is posted online at Texas State. Students needing assistance after hours can contact the non-emergency number for University Police at 512.245.2805, and they will be forwarded to a staff member from Student Emergency Services.

Security & Access to Site

August 24, 2018 update: Access to the site is restricted due to safety concerns regarding the structural integrity of the building and the presence of asbestos, as well as to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations. The property's insurance company is now in control of the site, and all inquiries should be directed to their legal counsel:

Status of Investigation

The San Marcos Fire Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced that they have ruled the fire was intentionally set and ATF is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to identification and/or arrests.

People with information on the suspect or suspects responsible for setting this fire should call 1-888-ATF-TIPS or email Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Tips.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that battery-powered smoke alarms, compliant with Texas Property Code 92.255, were installed within individual apartments. Reference: Texas Property Code 92.255; amended on July 18, 2015
