Streets Department - 5 Year Asphalt Overlay & Slurry Seal Plan

The City of San Marcos Public Works Streets Department recently completed a street overlay project on East De Zavala Drive.

The project included drainage repairs, milling and overlaying on De Zavala from Staples Road to State Highway 123. The total project cost was $70,490.02.

Springtown Way

The City of San Marcos Public Works Department also completed a street overlay project on Springtown Way. The total cost of that project was $78,838.49.

The neighborhood repaving project is part of the City's annual Street Overlay Program, a preventative maintenance program to improve the overall quality of all streets city-wide.

Based on the latest community survey, residents identified street maintenance as one of the City's highest priorities.

Streets Department - 5 Year Sidewalk Maintenance Project

The City of San Marcos Sidewalk Maintenance Plan is a five year program with projects being part of the City's annual sidewalk maintenance program to improve the overall quality and safety of all the sidewalks, city-wide.

The City of San Marcos Public Works Department recently completed the Cheatham Street Phase I Sidewalk Project as well as the Craddock Avenue Sidewalk Maintenance Project.

The projects included removing old existing sidewalk and replacing new sidewalks with new ADA compliant handicap ramps.

Pursuant to City Council's budget policies, the City Council has increased the City's street maintenance budget to a total of 1.5 million.

"With the increased funding and support for street maintenance, residents will see an overall improvement of City streets in the next few years," said Sabas Avila, Assistant Director of Public Services.
