The San Marcos City Cemetery, founded in 1874, is located on 45 acres at 1001 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos. The cemetery is the burial ground for many Texas pioneers and veterans of wars dating back to the War of 1812.
Friends of the Cemetery
The Friends of the Cemetery is a tax-exempt 501 C-3 organization dedicated to improving the cemetery. Donations to this group are tax deductible and monies go to projects such as removing ball moss from the Oak Trees, planting trees, and other improvements to the cemetery. Cemetery Cleanup Week: TBD
All items not in compliance with City cemetery regulations will be removed from the burial sites and held for families to pick up for 30 days at the cemetery maintenance shop. Prohibited items include glass containers, solar lights, spinners, swings and wind chimes.
Wreaths Across America
Donate to Wreaths Across America: Donations made will go towards a remembrance wreath being placed on gravesites of veterans buried in the City of San Marcos Cemetery mid-December.
