1. How do I print my online job application?

You will have the option to view your online job application before submitting it. Once your online application opens for you to view, you may print by selecting File / Print using the toolbar on your computer screen.

2. Can I make changes to my online job application?

You can edit your online job application at any time. However, once your online application is submitted for a posting, you can no longer make changes or add information to that particular application.

3. How do I save my online job application?

You must click:
- Save and continue to next or
- Save and stay on this page to save the information you have entered

If you close your browser prior to clicking save and continue to next or save and stay on this page, your online application and account will be saved, but you will lose the information on the last page that was not saved.

4. What if I am not ready to complete the online job application at this time?

If you do not want to complete the online job application at this time, please click Cancel.

5. What are the benefits of using the online employment system?

Benefits of the system include:
- Accessibility - Our online employment system is accessible from any computer with internet access.
- Flexibility - Applicants can submit additional documentation and answer questions electronically.

6. Once I complete an application online and upload a resume, can I use these to apply for other positions?

Yes. You may use these same documents to apply for other positions. If you wish, you may also customize your application or resume for different jobs for which you apply.

7. May I use more than one resume?

Yes. You can submit a new resume for each position that you apply for. The site will hold several versions of your resume and cover letter. These can later be attached to subsequent positions that you apply for and can be viewed by entering your username and password.

8. What if I want to submit a resume?

You will be able to submit a resume each time you apply for a position. Instructions will advise you when and how to attach your resume. Please note that attaching a resume is not a substitute for completing the application form.

9. Can I copy selected information from another electronic document?

Yes. You can copy and paste information from your document directly into the appropriate fields on the application form.

10. Who will see my online job application?

The City is committed to ensuring that confidential information is protected. Your online job application is only accessible to the City of San Marcos Human Resources Department and the hiring managers for the specific position for which you are applying.

11. What materials will I need before I apply for employment?

In order to create an application, you will need the following items:
- Contact information regarding your employment history
- Internet access
- Personal information including previous employment, education, professional licenses / certificates
- References

You may attach an electronic cover letter and resume.

12. What if I do not have access to a computer or need help when applying for employment?

The Human Resources Department is located in City Hall and computers are also available at the San Marcos Public Library.

13. How do I apply for employment?

To begin the application process, you will need to create an online application. You will need to select a user name and password that you can easily remember. You should write down your user name and password. You will need it to apply for other positions, edit your application, or check the status of your application the next time you visit the site. 14. Where can I view job postings and apply?

Job postings are available at the main entrance of City Hall. You may also view job postings and apply on any computer with internet access on our Jobs page.
